Telescopes

For Sale: lots of Astronomical Equipment, another heritage of an active Amateur Astronomer (Belgium).

Sadly, another Belgian amateur-astronomer passed away a few months ago, and his heirs contacted us (Mira Public Observatory, Grimbergen) to find a new home for his -sometimes quite expensive- gear.

Please contact me by mail => “info” at “telescoopverhuur.be”.

  • 254mm f/9.8 Newton, optics by Iowa Scientific Optical

Long, longer, longest… This planetary Newton has such a long tube I needed 2 photo’s to get it on camera, while it stood in the attic (I didn’t bring my fish-eye-lens :-)).

The telescope comes with a NGF-2 focuser (from JMI).

  • Televue 70mm Pronto (f/6.8) Sold!

These days we see a lot of compact high quality refractors coming out of China, but this famous Televue-instrument was probably the very first!

Comes in a nice padded bag, + Vixen-style dovetail and a finder-scope.

Last known value (new): 1.200 € ?

Value second hand: 500 € ?

  • 180mm Istar R30 (f=1440mm, so f/8) Sold!

Big, bigger, biggest… I think we all dream of owning a large refractor, so this might be an opportunity! Not a triplet nor an ED-objective, but these Istar-lenses seem to perform better as an “ordinary” doublet (“R30” stand for “30% less chromatic aberration compared to similar classical doublets”). Unfortunately Istar went out of business this year (the owner passed away), so this is your chance to grab one…

The scope comes with its tube-rings, finder scope, and has a very smooth Astrophysics-focuser (worth quite a few bucks on its own!!). The telescope was build by Ad Matthijs (AstroTechniek), after the owner acquired this Istar-lens.

Serial number: 130069

Last known value (new): 2.750 €

Value second hand: 1.200 € ?

  • 90mm Vixen f=1300mm SOLD!!

A classical very long refractor from the ’80s and ’90s (I own one myself, and for lunar and planetary observations they still outperform most modern refractors!).

Comes with tube-rings, diagonal and finder scope. Matches nicely with the Vixen Super Polaris DX or Great Polaris!

Last known value (new): 1.000 € ?

Value second hand: 300 € ?
