Telescope mounts

For Sale: lots of Astronomical Equipment, another heritage of an active Amateur Astronomer (Belgium)

Sadly, another Belgian amateur-astronomer passed away a few months ago, and his heirs contacted us (Mira Public Observatory, Grimbergen) to find a new home for his -sometimes quite expensive- gear.

Please contact me by mail => “info” at “telescoopverhuur.be”.

  • AstroPhysics 600E Servo

Comes with a 2nd (spare) SMD controller (probably the first generation of AP controllers??).

Mounted on a sturdy wooden Berlebach Uni18 tripod.

Last known value (new): ??? €

Value second hand: 3.000 €

  • Skywatcher EQ3

One of the smaller manual mounts, manual. But comes on a wooden Berlebach-tripod (he definitely loved Berlebach !!!).

Last known value (new): 330€ (without tripod) – 750€ (with tripod)

Value second hand: 200- 400€ ?

Heavy-duty robust mount, exceptional quality… from Belgium :-). Comes with a Lichtenknecker Optics-style dovetail-mount, but that can easily be switched for a Losmandy-style one (I’ve done this for a mount at our Public Observatory, so I can certainly help you with this…).

Stand on a rather high pier, so a good value for those wanting to use longer refractors… A second pier is available!

Last known value (new): ??? €

Value second hand: 1.800€ ?

  • Vixen Great Polaris (motorised in RA)

Slightly more payload capacity compared to the previous one, and comes with the now obvious (but this model started it probably) Vixen-dovetail system.

The tripod is an aluminium one.

Last known value (new): ??? €

Value second hand: 350€ ?

  • Vixen Saturn (manual)

The beefiest of the 3 Vixen-mounts – could probably carry a 20 kg telescope and more (30 kg?) – such as the Celestron C14. Was used as a manual mount, but the original RA-motor (synchronous motor?) and electronics are available – and even a more recent stepper-motor from Vixen (but not sure about the handset for this one…).

Stands on the original heavy mobile pier.

Last known value (new): ??? €

Value second hand: 750€ ?

BTW: the tube-rings are NOT included

Uses the FS2-controller (from Michaël Koch, Germany).

Comes with a (low) sturdy and heavy pier (white, on wheels), or the more classical portable pier from AP (worth 1500$).

For those interested: the owner put a dovetail-fitting for Lichtenknecker-dovetails on top of the AP-saddle (could be interesting for someone still using LO-telescopes). But this can be easily removed of course…

Last known value (new): ??? €

Value second hand: 4.000 €

  • Vixen Super Polaris DX (manual) SOLD!!

Oldy but goldy, in the 80’s and 90’s we all dreamt about owning one… And this one is still in perfect condition (mechanical and aesthetically).

Stands on the original extra sturdy wooden Vixen tripod.

Comes without motors, but one can easily mount the motors (and even SynScan GoTo) from Skywatcher (EQ5, started probably as a clone of the Vixen-mount).

Last known value (new): ??? €

Value second hand: 350€ ?

BTW: the tube-rings (for a Skywatcher 100mm Esprit) are NOT included – except if you’d buy the mount with this scope of course 🙂

  • Skywatcher AZ EQ5 SOLD!!

Probably the last mount bought by the deceased.

Buyer can choose between a modified Vixen Saturn pier or a sturdy wooden Berlebach Uni18 tripod.

Comes with all the accessories (cables, 2nd dovetail-holder,…).

Last known value (new): 1750€ (without tripod) – 2135€ (with Berlebach Uni18).

Value second hand: 900 – 1300€
